Just us
(S • Luke/Adam • slash, romance, fluff • word count: 595)
Adam feels everyone’s gaze on him and Luke as they walk in the middle of the crowd of friends and family. Then Luke stops, places his hands on Adam’s sides and pulls him closer while Adam is awkwardly eyeing the people around them.
”Hey,” Luke whispers softly, smiling, and Adam turns his gaze on him. ”It’s just us.”
Adam nods, knowing that the words are meant for encouragement, and breathes slowly in and out.
It is just them. The soft melody starts to fill the air and Adam grabs a hold of Luke’s sides, squeezing his suit into his hands. Luke’s smile grows wider, lighting up his whole face as he pulls Adam even closer, and it’s enough to make Adam relax. Slowly they start to sway to the music, each tiny step moving them across the venue’s floor. Distantly Adam registers that someone is sniffling amongst the guests and a thought that
maybe this doesn’t look as bad as he thought crosses his mind.
Luke rests his forehead against Adam’s and Adam closes his eyes, feeling Luke’s warm breath caressing his face. Every now and then their noses brush one another, the light touch making Adam laugh almost soundlessly. He breathes in Luke’s scent, feeling its intoxicating effect and finally allows himself to get lost in the moment.
It feels like time is standing still. The music sounds so far away, his every sense is focused on Luke, his heart beating slightly faster in his chest, warmth tingling under his skin.
He knows this is where he belongs.
Finally, all the puzzle pieces are in place, perfectly aligned.
He feels complete.

When the party started to get too loud and people too wild, Luke and Adam considered it best to leave for a quieter place. Their choice is obvious – the lake where Luke proposed to Adam. They sit down on the pier and roll the legs of their suit trousers up and sink their legs into the cool water.
For a moment they just enjoy the silence and watch towards the horizon.
Adam is the first to break the silence by a deep sigh.
”We did it. We’re actually married now.”
Luke lets out a little laugh.
”Yeah, we did it.”
Adam turns to look at Luke and smiles. Luke turns to him, too, and takes Adam’s hand in his.
”Honestly, this day has been perfect. You really pulled off the whole ’organize a wedding’ thing,” Adam says and Luke shakes his head smiling.
”Well, I knew you weren’t that keen on doing that so it was basically my duty.”
Adam doesn’t know what to say so he just squeezes Luke’s hand. He is so grateful, but the words just don’t seem to be enough of a thank you. Organizing a wedding surely wasn’t an easy task and the fact that Luke did it all for him, for them, meant so much.
”You’re the best.”
Luke leans in and gives a quick peck on Adam’s lips.
”I know,” he says with a grin and Adam pushes him playfully with his free hand. Luke pretends to be offended by that, starts to sulk and Adam just laughs before he leans in and gives Luke a proper kiss.
”I can’t wait for our honeymoon, husband,” he says.
”Me neither,” Luke smiles and pulls Adam into a cuddle. Adam melts against him and silence falls between them.
The day has been long and they both are clearly starting to feel a bit weary but in the quiet of the late summer night they are the happiest they’ve ever been.
